Durham Region has three new cases of COVID-19

Durham Region has three new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing to five the number of cases being monitored locally.

The new cases were all tested at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, according to Durham Region Health.

According a press release, a 72-year-old woman who returned from travelling overseas tested positive for COVID-19 on March 13.

While at Lakeridge Health, officials say she was masked and isolated. She has since been discharged and sent home to be in self-isolation.

The other two cases are a husband and wife who also returned from overseas travels.

They developed symptoms of the virus and were tested at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 11.

After being tested, both were sent home to remain in self-isolation for the duration of their recovery.

The other two cases involve a husband and wife who live in Ajax and have been in self isolation since Feb. 29 when they tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
