Durham College has cancelled all in-person classes until March 23.
At that time, all courses, where possible, will be moved online or to other alternative delivery formats “until further notice.”
Classes which are already online-based will continue as scheduled.
According to an email from the college, more information will be shared with students “as it becomes available over the coming week.”
This decision follows the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring COVID-19 a pandemic earlier this week.
The college will continue to be open and most labs, shops and studio spaces will be available to students.
According to Durham College, student residences will not be affected and placements and co-ops will continue.
The college says not all classes can be done online as hands-on learning is at the heart of many of the college’s programs.
Meanwhile, all events with more than 250 people have been cancelled.
The college first announced class cancellations on March 12 following the announcement that all publicly-funded schools in Ontario were to be closed for three weeks.
